Overhead console - use?

I have this big, gaping hole in the back side of my overhead console.

I shoved a couple CD jackets in there, my garage door opener and a small fuel log book.

First time I mashed the gas hard, most of that stuff landed in the back seat.

So what is supposed to go up there? It's almost useless for storage ...

I keep a phone book in there. we got a small version of the phone book with the regular size. Fits great. You could mount a CB radio in there.

I keep a pair of Oakley sunglasses there. They don't fall out and since nothing else gets put in there they stay safe.
