My 91 3.0l Aerostar just started surging, not idle'ing properly a week ago, just after i feuled up, thot it was gas related, but i've eliminated water in gas as culprit, changed fuel filter, now i'm thinking some sort of censor HELP!!!!!!!!!!
You also asked about EGR
Have you refilled your tank yet? it is possible that you got some bad gas !!!!
Also have you disconnected your battery terminal? Not sure if EECiv has to relearn the idle settings, but you might find it sorts itself out. You may need to conform to a "drive cycle" to get everything as it should be. Clever things these computer control systems but sometimes you can think there is a problem when there actually is not!
EGR system if you have one, will be a pipe running up to the intake from the exhaust manifold, it also runs through an EGR valve & valve positioning sensor (on the same unit). It could cause rough idleing, since the valve can stick or the port(s) can clog up. If the valve is stuck it should throw a code.

Reason: update
THX ALL who Responded to this thread , my problem is Now " F I X E D " - - it was the MAP Sensor all along, even tho it was unlikely to my trained mechanic bro, he hooked up OBD1 & codes did not remain or show to any great extent, puzzled as we were-he finally yanked the plug on the MAP Sensor & Viola (i missed this revelation, as i was inside reading & typing) i.e , i got out of his hair with my stupid questions & was here persuing what i thot might lend less stupid questions to the repair, i salvaged a new MAP sensor from the wrecker 5$ canadian ! 108 $ retail @ partsource, unfortunatly i lost patients earlier & put in bran-new TPS & IACS AT 43 $ & 106 $ respectivly--Lesson Learned, i dont think a similiar problem can occur without me 1st reaching for this connector & giving it a quick Yank & if that doesnt do it , i might give something else a Quick Yank !! thx again all!
