Broken Driver's seat help

I have a 1987 ELT and my kids, wife etc seem to think that the backs of my front seats are their personal handles to pull up and down and, well you know kids. Now to the point - My driver seat will not stay upright on one side (IE the outside of the backrest stays in place but the inside flops around) it is like there is a bar broken on the inside frame of the backrest of the seat that connects the left to the right..?? I do not know upholstery seatframes etc, Has anyone ever run into this problem? If so any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

On my Mustangs similar things happen. Not sure if it's the same or not, but on those there is a zipper at the bottom of the seat. Unzip the zipper and wiggle the whole top part (foam and cover) off as one piece. May have to remove headrest if it's seperate. Once that's off, you will see the metal frame and probably where it's cracked. You can bolt it and/or weld it and it will be as good or better than new! Not hard on the cars, hopefully similar on these trucks.

I welded my 84 bucket seats a few times, too. You can unbolt the seat from the bracket, and turn the seat upside-down. Either undo the zipper or remove the hog rings holding the cover, and check for broken supports. As you weld, the seat foam may burn, so have a wet rag handy to put out any flames.
