fuel problems
i have a 94 f-150 supercab 351w 2wd and front seal went on my yesterday but iam dealing with that at work but when i was figuring gas mileage
iam getting 8 miles per gallon when i was getting 15 then realized that my front tank was full and over flowing when i havent put gas in that tank for few weeks ....only thing i can figure is that it is pumping from the rear tank to the front any iam at a loss on this one.....this is the only ford truck ive had or my family has had and there all 286k to 660k this truck only has 123 on it ..... any help is appreciated in advance

yea seen that shortly after posting out of the 12 ford trucks my family and i have this is the first time ive seen this and working at the ford dealership no one has incounterd it there either...wierd but thanks

This is a common problem and most of the time you will run fine while staying on the front unit as the pump is OK and both valves are open while it is pumping.

Hey thanks subford. I just bought this truck a few weeks ago and he was having some fuel related problems. He put a fuel filter on and said his mechanic buddy said thats all it needed. He also said that he never used the front tank. I filled it up and switch to the front after I bought it but it didn't run as well on the front. Then I switched it to the back and it started running just fine. I did add seafoam to both tanks. How hard is it to fix this O ring?
P.S. I changed it back to the front tank this afternoon and it seems to have quit pushing the gas out.

I think your socks in both tanks need cleaning.
The selector valve does have a reservoir in it and if the in tank pumps filled it and then you started the engine you may run fine on the fuel in the reservoir. But if you are not getting enough gas from the tank it would empty the reservoir and you would have your problem in a little while.
All the selector valve does is line up the supply and return lines from the tank to the engine.
