I'm thinking about trading my 03 Expedition in for a 03-04 Excursion. I have a 28' 7800 pound travel trailer. The Expedition has enough power, it just seems to be too 'soft' in the suspention.
My question is, does the 5.4 have enough power to pull itself along with my 7800 pound trailer?? The one in my Expedition seems to do the trick.
I know the v10 would probably do the job, but I'm also looking at prices. PSD's are way out of my price range all together!!
The Excursion is quite a bit heavier than the Expedition. That 5.4L is taxed more in it. I would look for a V10, they certainly are easier to find since most Excursions were built with them.
I would look on Ebay as there are a lot of V10s out there with really good prices on them.. They just aren't selling that well because of the gas price.. I bought my PSD for a really good price and picked it up myself.. It probably cost me as much money as if I had shipped it,BUT I got a road trip out of it...
