I just purchased a 77 f250 crew cab with a 400 in it. I started pullin the dash apart in order to swap parts out of my f150 in to it. That is when I found some burnt wires behind the instrument cluster. I have isolated the wires and can't seem to find them on the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual. I have taken some pictures and have posted them in my gallery. There are acutally 3 wires in question. Two of them are black w/ red strip and the other one is black w/ green strip. One of the black/red is coming out of the fuse box as well as the black/green. The one that I am really concern about is the black/red that goes threw the firewall and connects to the square connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One of the black/red is coming out of the fuse box as well as the black/green.
do you mean out the back of the fuse box or out the front because it was attached to a fuse lug ?
That connector looks like is for the cruise control.
Does this truck have speed/cruise control ?
The reason I ask is because all those color wires match cruise control wiring.
black with red or red/black is for stop light switch & cruise shutdown switch.
I would venture to guess this truck has a manual transmission the flat plug is a jumper that goes where the neutral saftey switch/backup light wiring off the steering column the black and red would go to the top of the tranny where the backup light switch is on a 4 spd
