the previous owner put a new ip and rebuilt injectors on my truck in preperation for a turbo, i bought it before he got around to it.
where is the adjustment screw for the ip? i know not to turn it more than a flat at a time, but didn't want to touch anything till i was sure where the screw was.
also, i was considering changing the rear gear, it's a 4.10 now, was thinking of maybe going to a 3.55 or 3.73, any input on this? or where i could find a gear. it's a 10.25 sterling axle. i only tow lightly, an open car trailer with my drag car on it. 5500# total weight.
did you put a turbo on ? also do you have a pyro?? any intake or exhaust mods done yet??? if you dont have a pyro or any mods you should leave the adjust ment alone you could start melting things.
i have a pyro, intake is stock-ish. no ram air. exhaust is a 2.5 y to 4"
this thing runs way rich, no turbo. adjusted for one though. even on this new ultra low sulfur fuel it pours smoke when i have to hammer down. idling for 15-20 min will leave soot stains on my driveway.runs great though, i just want a little better mpg. if i'm easy on it it'll do about 14.
What are the stat's on your truck, 6.9, 7.3, year??? Sounds to me like you could easily turn down your fuel a flat at least, and get rid of the no power gained due to unburned fuel soot issue. With intake Mods you may get more power with that fuel setting, I would try that as well as turning down the fuel, if you don't have a pyrometer, you could be doing damage at high power output. If you do notice power loss that you don.t like you can always crank it back up!
it's a 92 7.3, it pulls harder at half to 3/4 throttle than full. mainly half throttle. the pyro is mounted in the y-pipe. at idle reads 300, cruising on the highway at 70 it reads 600. the intake is pretty stock, i removed the stock scoop and aimed the hose at a cold air source.
my main question is where is the adjustment at? the only thing i've touched on the ip is the fipl.
