oil pans

If i swap a 460 out of a 1988 ford pickup into my 79 f150 4wd will the oil pan fit or will i have to switch it out?
Also can i just take the fuel injection off of the 460 and just put on a 4bbl intake manifold and call it good?

thanks nick

well if the 88 is a 4x4 then the pan should be the same if a 2wd then it should have a front sump and will have to be changed to rear sump with a new oil pump, pickup tube and one main stud (to bolt the pickup tube too) No you can't just remove the EFI intake and bolt on a carbed intake the heads are slightly different and that doesn't work, you will either need to convert the efi intake to accept a carb (someone on here has some pictures of that done) or change the heads to 86 or earlier carbed heads.

88 will be a rear sump engine and may fit the 79 4X4. Monsterbaby is correct on the head differences, the port angle on the intake side is different between carb and EFI. If you change heads, the exhaust is also different so manifolds or headers for the heads you use will be needed. Distributors are also different, EFI is computer controlled, 79 is a Duraspark II system. Sounds like a nice project!

The 460 is out of a 83 my mistake so it would be carburated. The guy that I called had one out of a 79 4wd that he just junked because he didnt know if it was worth any thing.
