Hi guys,
I own a 1995 bronco with a 302, super cooling which includes the large radiator, 19" fan with the severe duty clutch. I recently swapped my old 302 out for a fresher junkyard one. I've used it all winter and I didn't like the lack of heat in my truck and the poor gas mileage, 9mpg average. So I used one of those pyrometer laser heat guns to see what my coolant temp was at the thermostat. i found out that my truck has a 180* thermostat. I bought the 195* that's it's supposed to have. I haven't installed it yet but I was wondering what to expect for mileage changes? That's my main concern. Now that its warm here in Mn I am getting 11-12 in it now. It has 31's and duals. Other than that its stock. Also I did a tuen up on it so the cap, rotor, plugs and wires are new. I plan on changing out the injectors this summer too. Fuel mump and filter are new too. i want to get 12-13 out of it. I do 90% highway driving, just cruising in OD on teh highway at 2000 rpm at 70. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Don't trust those pyrometers. They can be wildly inaccurate. Check with the parts store but the 195 stat is probably stock for your vehicle. Check with your engine and Bronco forum for mileage tips. It has been discussed innumerable times over the years.
