c6 tranny problems
if any one can help you would be me hero
The vacuum line controls the shifting. It goes to a modulator mounted at the rear passenger side of the tranny. The AOD does not have a vacuum line, so the TV cable controls the shifting.
The linkage on the c6 is for a "passing gear". You can leave it unhooked till you get it figured out, or if you do not want the kickdown function. The way it's setup is the linkage does not move until the last about 1/2 throttle movement. When you floor the gas pedal, right when the throttle is near the flloor the linkage moves and kicks the tranny into third gear.
What I do not know is what tranny setup you have. I am only familiar with the carb setup, which has a hard linkage rod coming from the tranny. If you have a cable, maybe your tranny is different, or possibly someone rigged the cable on there?
Possibly Ford did have the c6 mated with EFI at some time, and you just need the correct throttle linkage on the throttle body?

I went to www.car-part.com and typed in a 86 f150 and looked for a transmission. They have been pretty accurate so far and this is what they list for the available trannies in 86, though there is no reference to what engine most of them came with. But a c6 is listed.
