68 conversion to 80's
Have a 68 F-250 2WD with 4 speed. Runs rough and rear axle need rebuilt. I'm thinking about buying an 80's donor truck (possibly an F-150) and trying to move the axle, [font=verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif][font=verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif]front [/font][font=verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif]suspension[/font][/font], motor and trans to the 68. I'm good with engine mechanics, but haven't messed with suspension systems much. Is this a impossible dream or has anyone done this before. Thanks in advance for your help!

Anything is possible with enough fabrication and work... Ford to Ford shouldn't be too bad of a deal. My '71 has engine and trans that are '85 vintage, rear end is out of a '70 something F-150.... I also moved my shocks outward on the rear end of my 2wd to help stabilize the ride, easy task with some mounts from a Hot Rodding source (that doesn't advertise here, so I won't upset folks by mentioning their name). A quick measurement on the width of the rear end in the donor truck vs. your existing rear end will tell you if it will work, the rest is just bracketry and a bit of welding....
