I know this is the NewFord forum. But didnt really know where else to post.
Is it possible for a truck that was bought at auction out of state, that lets say was titled as salvaged, to get retitled in a different state which its for sale in? So that the unsuspecting buyer wouldnt know as its been retitled.
On another note. Since the dealer bought it at auction can they still show you the previous owners title?

Yes it is possible and it is done all the time. Each state uses a percentage of value to determine "salvage" status on a title. Say the state you live in uses 50 % as their benchmark. A vehicle worth 10,000 receives 5,800 in damage so the vehicle is totaled and gets a salvage title. Someone buys the vehicle and rebuilds it in a state where say the benchmark is 75% of value. Vehicle is issued a "clean" title because the total damage falls under that states benchmark. I believe it is called "title scrubbing".
I don't think that the dealer would have access to the title since it was bought at auction. You may be able to find out that information by running a Carfax report.
If you have not run a carfax yet send me a PM with the vin and I will run one for you. I bought the whole month subscription and have only used it once for the truck I bought.

Dude thats cool youd do that and I appreciate the offer, however ive already run the carfax. Did you find that your truck that you bought jived with carfax?
Did you end up buying out of state or instate?
We have a leasing company and I run one on any used truck we buy and they have always mostly been as I was told by the seller. I have run the autocheck reports a couple times also and sometimes that has a couple more things (another registration or service performed) but they are most of the time the same thing. I bought this truck in state. I have bought a bunch of different ones out of state and in state and never had any problems with either.
