I have a 72 Sc SWB with orignal parts. My question is i've found a rolling chassis that is from a 70 F-100 LB cut to fit SWB. They had installed disc brakes and have also changed rearend. It has had little mileage after brakes, and rearend switched. I not paying much for it and i've already spent over what i exspected. I know that restoreing can be HI$$$$$$$ even you have 80% of the tools. I'm thinking that if this chassis can work and has did a couple of exspensive changes i could take my cab and bed off and onto a good clean frame that has already did what i still got to do. I'm not a certified mechanic, but i have worked on and with different vehicles. I got engine puller, stand, torches, mig but i don't have a garage. If there is know different and i can use it. Will it still be a 72 SC SWB or 70 LWB? I also have the title to it. Thanks for any info guys.
title will match to the vin # on the door so your truck shoud still be a 72. And if the fram has already been cut down then there should be no problem. But you could also just take the rear end and brakes off the frame and put them on yours if you would like, should be no problem.
Walt, My suggestion is to leave it alone. You are gonna need many other parts that aren't on the chassis. You might start looking for a 73-79 donor with the running gear setup that you want to end up with. They can be found pretty cheap and should be complete.
There is no need to have to double your efforts. IMHO
I went and looked at this chassis and its from a 70 F100 SWB has a complete disc brakes switch from a 76 along with power steering. It also has a 28 gallon fuel tank mounted in back of frame. It has been converted right so that i can just remove my cab and bed over to it. As i thought that it was cut down but it hasn't. Can i just take and transfer my top parts without any problems.
Thanks Redcat Diesel,
I got it for $150.00 and i go pick it up today. When i went to look at it i saw that he had put all new bushings and was done right. He also had the fuel cell made and said if i wanted it he would leave it in. I just have to make a door in the floor of my bed or figure a way to bring it out by the tag area. Thanks for the info. It sure will make it easy and alot cheaper too. I will be visiting up near you in June. I'll be in Masontown PA for my stepsons graduation. Thanks again.
