Tranny drive gear indicator
I'm close to getting ready to replace the clockspring (next week) and my Tranny gear selector indicator doesn't work. So while I have the steering wheel off is there anything in this area that I can adjust or replace? Is the cable in another area down in the column? Thought I'd ask before I removed the cluster and wheel. Thanks for all your help guys.
I love my van but I'm considering getting a Ranger as fuel prices are hard on this retired old man. Plus Phoenix traffic is no joy in this rig.
Have a 04 Focus and Sea-foam is the best thing that ever happend to it.
I finally took the dash part for the 1st time & discovered that I did not need to remove the steering wheel to do it, contray to Haynes & Chilton. However I did need to remove the 'clamshell' steering column trim pieces. This means you need to remove the ignition lock cylinder & an acursed screw at the trim's bottom right! It is also a joy to reinstall the shift indicator adjusting nut you need to remove to release the cable. Once you get the instrument cluster out the PRDL unit can be removed so you can see what broke. The indicator is very simple after you get to it. You might replace the dash/guage illumination bulbs
Pitfalls included a headlight switch **** that had been Super Glued & had to be destroyed to get off. Normally a neat little latch holds them on.
