I went to put the window back up and it just fell down and will not go up. Assuming its the motor. Anybody ever experience this? What can I do to fix it? Thanks
I had the same thing happen in my old 92 F-250... It was not under warranty so I bought a used motor from a parts store and installed. Ford wanted alot of cash to fix it. If I remember right I paid about $35 for a used motor.
mine went at 35,200 miles....just in time. Also my passenger up/down button went at about 39,000.....not to impressed with the quality of my truck on trim parts. The drivetrain seems to have no issues.
My drivers window went too. I replaced it myself. The whole assembly cost 140. It was fairly easy. If you need more info, just ask. There are 2 plastic gears that lay flat against each other, like a clutch. The teeth break off. The only thing I can figure it's a safety thing, so you don't smash a kids head. I had my friends kids in my Concord. We pulled in parked I hit all 4 windows. I heard a groan. The 5 year olds head was in the window. She stuck her head out to see the Ferris wheel. She cried some, but she was fine. That was 6 years ago. it's like it was yesterday. I had to do a 91 Voyager they wanted 500, just parts. I got that one from a junk yard.
sounds like your window regulator is shot. If yu dont want to fix it yourself, try an auto glass shop instead of the dealer. I've orderd regulators and brought them to the auto glass company to install ever since my local Mazda dealer tried to charge me $400 to replace a broken regulator while the car was still in warranty. Took them 1 week to fix it because they didnt have the part in stock. By the time they fixed it, the car was out of warranty. Tried to make me pay..screw them.
Well I installed the new motor and regulator. It was actually the regulator but Ford sold it as a whole, motor and regulator, for $130 with tax. Got it in no problem and it took about an hour start to finish. The hardest part was getting the actual door panel off. I recommend doing it yourself to anyone.
