Ok I have a Cobra 29 LTD Edition Dale Earnhardt. I have it all connected to antenna and power straight to the battery. I want to know how do you tune in your CB so that you can hear people clear? Any Advice?
True! Just don't transmit too much until you check the SWR. I would like to see SWR's down to 1.5:1 or better, altho 1:2 won't hurt anything except lower your output into the air.
If after installing antenna, you can not receive, you either installed antenna wrong (direct short) or you have a bad receiver. Heck, I've talked and received using a #47 light bulb soldered to a PL259 and screwed into the antenna receptical of the transceiver!! (This was a base radio, if I were to try it with a mobile, I'd solder it to a piece of coax (RG58) and stick it out the window.) It only transmitted about a mile, but it received a lot better than it transmitted!
