Vehicle Speed Sensor Intermittent/Erratic/High
Are there any direct tests I can do to find a short? Everything seems to shift fine and work ok until i drive up into the mountains, and then the o/d light blinks and sets P0504 (Vehicle Speed Sensor Intermittent/Erratic/High). I even tried turning the o/d off while climbing then back one once I hit a flat stretch and it started blinking after a few miles. It stops blinking when I restart the vehicle. I drive about 4 miles to work everyday and the light doesn't blink.
When I first got the truck, I had a transmission shop pull the code and tell me I needed a new speed sensor, so i replaced it. A few weeks later, on a long drive, it starting blinking again, so I went back to the tranny shop and they pulled the same code. I replaced it yet again.
It is still throwing the same code when driving about 60 miles thru hilly terrain.
I called the tranny shop and asked them what they would do to troubleshoot it and after I explained everything, they said they would pull the code and go from there. I told them that they had originally pulled the code, so we already know what the code was. He said he would re scan it and probably change the tranny oil and filter and look for clues in the pan. He said the tranny flush I had done 2 months ago probably caused it. I disagreed, it was doing the same thing before. I hoped the flush would fix it.
I'm debating just taking it in to the dealership.
