Thermostat housing
I tried in vain today to get to the thermostat on my 99 Ranger,2.5 4 cyl.The housing appears to be plastic,with 2 sensors and a heater hose,and maybe 1 bolt beside the timing belt cover.Can't find the other one at all.How do you access this thing?Been through all the thermostat threads,still can't find anything other than "follow the radiator hose to the housing........." and that sort of thing.And the Haynes "manual" is only good for lining bird cages!

Should be at the top front of the engine... I hate to be repetitive, but follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. Where it ends is the cover... it's either two or three bolts, I can't recall.

Remove heater hose, upper radiator hose, and 2 temp sensors. Thermostat housing is retained by 2 bolts, which appear to be at 4 and 10 o'clock positions. Also, will need to replace "O" ring in thermostat housing
