I have V10 that has 59K. It runs great, mileage is 10.5 (the norm) plenty of power. BUT there is and has been a milky film on the oil fill cover on the engine. I have had the trk. for 2 years with no engine or coolant problem. It does use oil between changing every 3k. Opinions please.
Sound to me like your rig is used for short trips around town where your not getting the oil very hot to cook off the water vapors. At least once as week, especialy in cold weather, get it out on the interstate and and run it hard to get the oil nice and hot to burn off the water vapor. You will want to do several very short milage oil changes while doing the hard drive in between the changes.
What i do with my 7.3 diesel, as it is only used to pull a trailer 3 months out of the year, is there is a good sized grade on a bypass around town, i start at the bottom and bury my foot into it and when i get to the top, go back around through town and do the hard hill climb again. that gets every thing nice and warm and and blows out any soot build up.
Yea, i know, thats wasting a few gallons of diesel. But its better than paying for a new $5000 engine that has spun a main bearing from lack of lubricity froom foamed oil..
Westtntrucker nailed it I think. Put in one qt of trans fluild in the engine and run it a few hours like that and then change the oil. After that try and use it a little more and get it warm before shutting down.
