Ball joints.
I have a 1982 Bronco.What are the first signs of ball joints going bad? A friend just lost the front wheel on his suv because the ball joint fell apart. Lucky for him he was only going 50 mph when it happened but it got me to thinking about my Bronco. Mine has always pulled kind of hard to the right even after having the steering box replaced because of it leaking and after an alignment. Sometimes if I make a hard left like turning in a circle I hear a pop from the front right.

Jack up truck and take a long screw driver and pry in area of ball joint to see if play there . If there is movement in joint area its going bad. Replace all of them. Its also a good time to replace or repack front bearings. keep us posted.

Could be. Might be something else. Shop installed adjusting cams, and several bushings a few years ago. This year was ball joints and it now pops only under severe off road articulation. I leave front end work to the guys who have the proper equipment.
