i was washing my truck today and on the front bumper there is a spot of rust the size of a nickle. it only seams to be surface rust but my question is since it rusted there once will it keep doing it or if i keep using my chrome polish will it not come back. what would u guys do thanks
You have a chrome bumper I'm assuming since you referred to chrome polish.
If it's rusting, I would think that means the dang thing wasn't plated with a copper/nickel process before the chrome. That sucks, reeks of cheapness. Chrome doesn't seal the steel, so it will likely keep rusting unless you can seal it with something.
Maybe that polish has some sealing qualities? I seem to remember other polish-types of products that claim to seal the surface, stuff for chrome/aluminum wheels I think.
thanks yea its chrome its a 2006 screw i found another spot on it should i just take it back and tell them i want a new bumper? it mkaes me mad i only had it 7 months.
That's a good question. If the bumpers are supposed to be sealed with a copper/nickel process to specifically prevent rust, then I'd say yours missed those steps, the evidence is in the rust.
You might play it kinda sneaky. Go in like you're looking at new trucks and start asking about whether a chrome bumper will rust like they used to in years past. If they give you a solid "no", then you bring up your bumper and ask what's up with that.
