just found out that most 58 grills were painted and very few were chrome any truth to this theory or was I lied to

They were offered in both chrome and painted, but there are no records available to tell what percentage of each were made. But far more were prolly painted.

Chrome grilles were a S.O. Option, so a place to start would be to find out how many Custom Cabs were produced & go from there.
1 of my reference books has these kinds of tallies, but I'm unable to locate it @ present because it's still packed away either in storage or lost in the garage.
