i have question maybe someone can answer. i have a 66 f100 with a 352 since i got the truck it has a chatter from the clutch. i had replaced it with a centerforce along with a new fly and also overhauled the trans. i still get a chatter but only when its hot weather it never chatters in cold or rainy weather. i've gotten use to it so i can usally drive around it ,but i would like to fix it right.
Since I am not familiar with the specifics of your truck I will have to speak "in general".
Is your "chatter" actually the clutch disk slipping? It could be that you didn't have the surface of the flywheel 100% clean. It could be that the flywheel didn't seat completely flat against the end of the crank due to the torque of the bolts, any build-up on the crank end. If the bolts on the bell housing are not holding the trans securely to the back of the engine you may be getting unwanted flex during engagement. The same goes for the bolts on the trans cross-member. Almost the same situation could occur if you have worn/damaged motor mounts or trans mounts.
Did you replace/inspect the pilot bearing in the end of the crank? I suppose it is "possible" a missing or destroyed pilot bearing could allow the input shaft to vibrate.
Is there any binding in the pedals, clutch cable, linkage or what ever your truck came equipped with?
no its more of a jerking feeling the flywheel was clean and dry. yes it got a new pilot bushing, new mounts (3) bolts torque on flywheel, pressure plate evenly tightend by hand in a star pattern. no oil or grease on new disc, bellhousing and block cleaned and tightend (german torque spec-goodintight).it also did this with the orig trans.the linkage is ok could be better no missing bushings and no eccesive play. i've done alot of clutches on many different makes and models but never had (that i can remember)a clutch chatter only in hot weather.
