No cracked manifolds, just nice newly rebuilt rumble. Almost 5 K on the new rebuild now, runs really sweet. I had to disconnect the electic choke though, damn thing kept staying on, like 12 mpg isn't bad enough already!!!
If anyone is good with carbs I'd like to get it tuned properly, I have cash and beer.

That could very well be the reson I drive 1972 and older, eletric choke gets on my nerves. My 75 360 has no choke and my 77 and 85 are bith converted to manual.

LOL.
What is a 400? I know it's referred to as a M block. with 400cid. it is a large block at the very least.

400 is not considered an M........kinda, 351M and 400 are of the same family......and at teh same time, I am not sure if they are considered big blocks or not? anyone else know?

love the 400 in our 79. dual exhaust and taking off the smog crap did wonders, all it needs now is a better cam and it will be quite respectable me thinks,

Only the 351M used the M and the 400 is considered a small block since it uses the same bore spacing as the 302 and 351's.

Thats awesome 61. I used to rev up my stang when i had it beside cars with car alarms and it set them off. Not quite the rumble sound though

Did you rebuild that 400 yourself, or get it done somewhere?
