Question fuel pump woes

Hello and thanks for such good information you all are great and have helped me save a lot of money doing things I didn't know I could. My 95 150 6cyl hastwo fuel tanks and the front pums isn't working. I took it over to Ford and they said I need the new fuel pump and a wire harness all together it should cost around $700.oo . Is that a little expensive and is this wire harness nessary.

EFI pumps in general run 200 - 400 new. I don't know how much yours would cost.

The pump is easy to replace. To drop the tank on my 91 F250 is only 1 nut per each of the 2 tank straps. If if is full of fuel, syphon most of it out first. I would just check the wiring and repair as needed.... who knows if they say wiring is bad, then maybe the pump is good. SOmetimes they figure if you are going to all that labor that you'd want to do it all while they are in there.

It's so easy that I don't mind putting in a pump from a junkyard. If it turns out to be $50 total, I don't mind risking doing it again in a few years!

also check the switch as they are known to go bad and not activate the pump. I stay away from Ford . Other than parts 90% of garages have all computer related stuff etc. One of the reasons Ford is $$ is they go by (around hear any away) The book . which say's is its supposed to take so many hours to fix this . so its quicker to put new on and charge extra for all those rusted bolts.
