well she wont start again, i was out in some mud and i guess the power steering didnt like i start to drive off and the power steering goes out so i pull into wallmart get some fluid(the cap popped off of the resovior) filled it up tightened the belt (cause it slipped off) and drove it back fine. but when i stopped it backfired really loud. and now it wont start again 300 straight 6 and i rebuilt the carb, i guess maybe to look again, but if theres anyother ideas shoot em at me.
You might have jumped the timing chain. When mine jumped it made that loud POP! and well its pretty obvious that it wont restart. Crank your motor over by hand to TDC and check to see if your rotor is pointing to cylinder #1.
By the way, the 300 six has timing gears, one of which is phenolic, which has been known to strip the teeth. If you want to make sure that's not it, turn the engine to top dead center and see if the rotor is pointing to the #1 sparkplug wire in the cap.
If you have spark, fuel, and the timing is correct, the only other thing I have had that would make an engine not start, is the plugs being fouled out with fuel. You may want to take them out and see if they are wet with fuel or really black and sooty. If they are, you may have to get a new set. I have tried to clean them before, but sometimes it doesn't help, and only new ones will make it go.
