If I remember correctly, it was a simple matter of "life" on the unit. They apparently, for some, have not lived up to the advertised longer life, and since they cost more, they become harder to justify.
I did read of one individual who reportedly tried it black, then blue, then black, then blue, and "thought" he could see a difference in performance, but wasn't completely sure. If you search the threads, this has been discussed several times, once in the past week even.
