Hey guys, forgive me if this is not the proper forum for my question. Does anyone know about a product that can be used to roll or paint onto a auto top that simulates being vinyl ??? I cannot get all the little dimpills out of my truck top. ( 65 Ranchero) and I want to hide them. Any ideas ?? Yeah I know I could put on a real vinyl top, but the other would be easier. Thanks. Roy in Tex.
I think Eastwood sells a product called "crinkle paint", and I've also seen something like it at Home Depot. I like the idea of using Rhino Lining, don't think it would deteriorate like vinyl does.
Thanks for the reply, I have considered both. While surfing the other day , I came accross that crinkle paint from Eastwood, and it just might be what I am looking for. Worth $10.00 +shipping to find out. And at the parts house yesterday, I was talking to a guy about my problem and he suggested Rhino lining the top. Top of the day out there guys. ( by the way I still have my 57 F-100. Cant bear to part with it).
Crinkle paint won't hold up over the long run. Water will get in, and the resulting rust will end any problems you previously had with a dimpled roof, because you won't have a roof. Vinyl tops sweat, causing more rust issues..and air gets under the front w/shield mldg, causing the top to billow. Pass on vinyl tops.
I'd go with the Rhino Liner or similar. You can now buy it at a parts house in spray or brush form, in several colors. Once on, problems gone. It dries in minutes and is more forgiving than crinkle spray paint.
There once was a simulated vinyl roof paint that looked pretty good from a distance. Who still carries it? Try Hemmings.

Thanks for all the inputs, will probably go will the bed liner material. Going to do the bed anyway might as well practice on it before the top. Top of the day to all. Roy.
