I know it's been done to death, but here it is.I have an 06 S/D. and I'm looking to put the largest tire(a/t) that I can on the truck without a lift. I'm currently looking at BFG's 285 17, 305 17,or the 315 17. I'm leaning towards the 305 because it stays in the stock E load rating.all this is just a thought until I find out the max size. also can I put them on stock wheels? thanks in advance. Everyone is so helpful on the forum.
I put 315/70-17 BFGs on today. Looks much better. No rub and no noticable loss of power. I'm not concerned with the reduction from an E rating to D because BFGs website says the gross max weight is the same. The only real problem I have is I can't decide what air pressure to use.
Yep--stock 17x7.5. Discount Tire didn't bat an eye--put them on, balanced them and gave me road hazard coverage. My oldest son even commented that they look better. Oh yeah--I have a 2005 diesel cc fx4
Had 35x12.50x17 on my 05 stock and worked well other than the power loss. I would suggest regearing if you go very big. I think the 06's come with 20's though if not the 35's may work.
imo, i'd rather have the power and not pay to regear the expensive truck and go with 33s. the stock tire is almost a 33" anyways. i have the 18" stock rims and like them. i will put a leveling kit on it someday and then go with 33s
