I bought an A-pillar gauge cluster for the 92-96 trucks, but I grabbed some pillar trim from a 95 F-150 as well. the trim pieces are different(newer one is curved, older one has a sharp bend), haven't exactly decided how I am going to combine it all. I am waiting to do my tranny swap so I can run the guage wires since I will have the dash apart to install the clutch pedal assmebly. I'll post up when it's finished.
I'm in the process now, hopefully have it done this weekend. Only problem I have is were to put all the wires and such that go to the guages. I am using mechanical guages so there is a tube for the oil and a rather large wire for the temp guage, plus all the wires to light the guages. I'll try to get picts if I can get it done, just something I'm playing with right now.
Check out my gallary...yes it is weak, but you will see the 2 guage pod for a, 87-96 mounted on the original 81 moulding. There is a gap at the top, but no one has ever noticed, but it fits fine. I will recommend to mount it with velcro and not the push pins they provide. I used 3m Velcro from NAPA for my pod and it has yet to work loose after 2 years. I chose to use velcro so I could route the wires, put the screw in the moulding then mount the guages. I am using Auto Meter guages...electic temp and mechanical oil.
No, I purchased just the 2 guage pod, not the whole pillar. That is why there is a gap at the top of the pod where it meets the pillar. If you are crafty, you could add some material to the pod so you could fit it to the pillar with no gap, but once I had it installed, it is a minor, very minor issue. The velcro does give it a tad more gap to the pillar, but I have no squeeking or other issues with my setup. To top it off, I can remove it easily to change bulbs, etc.
I don't currently have access to a camera...it could take a while before I do. I hope to post clean pictures (with summer rims) in the spring. I am grafting a bubble/scoop setup off a 94-98 Mustang onto the F150 hood. I have it all cut and fit, when the weather cooperates I will roll out the MIG.
