Unchromed valve covers

Does anyone know of a source for UNCHROMED Y-block valve covers? Alternatively, could anyone suggest an inexpensive method to make paint adhere to chrome valve covers? OBTW, powder coating is not inexpensive.

I would consider a primer (engine enamel) and spray engine enamel over that.

Cheap fix - Clean them - rinse well - spray w/ an etching primer - spray with "Tiajuana Chrome" (bright aluminum).

Your gonna have to rough up the chrome surface before etching primer so paints stick...if chrome is not in good shape then sand blast first to remove all chrome....takes a while but can be done for a good clean start.
