i have had multiple threads on here about my 98 f150 4x4 4.6 romeo. it has about 177k miles on it and it was leaking coolant through the intak gaskets so i tore it down and decided to do the head gaskets and a new timing set as well to freshen her up a bit. well after all that i put it all back together following the chilton book to every spec. turned it over and it jumped time on the driverside and broke some roller rockers in the valve cover area. i am asuming that i bent a valve or something too.
thats the low down. i am 21 years old and i bought this truck with high hopes and im really tight on money right now and i need to get this damn thing runing again for as cheap as possible. what are your sugestions please. is it worth fixing up or what do you experianced ford guys think i should do. im open for all options. i have just had the 4x4 tranny rebuilt and had a shift kit installed for $2,400 from a proffesional race tranny shop and now my motor takes a ****. i would even be willing to make payments to someone who has a good 4.6 or 5.4 engine i could buy. as long as they would work with me. i tried the jasper engines and some other place and i have searched junk yards for motors but nobody will help me out or the engines i just dont trust them from any local yards. im located in central wisconsin and would be willing to consider all my options.
this motor has a lot of miles on it and i would like to drop something in it that has a lot less miles than what it has on it now. i would really like to upgrade to a 5.4l. i was debating wether to pull the tranny out and sell it and sell my engine for what i could and just drop in a bbf and a 2wheel drive tranny and get the custom brackets and have a powerhouse truck but then i realized i use my 4wheel drive too much. still debating that option. im trying to get my truck back on the road the cheapest way i can.
