Keith-

I'm not as far as you on my Lightning 5.4 motor but I dread the electrical part. You might call The Detail Zone (makes custom harnesses) or Street & Performance in Mena, Arkansas. I have spoken to both of them and will probably purchase a harness from one of them when I get ready. Since they have some experience with the Ford motors they might be able to give you some help on those plugs. Do you have a Ford Tech CD with the wiring diagrams? I bought one off Ebay for my engine but I haven't looked at it much yet. I know this is not much help but maybe will get you some info. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Keith,
Are you trying to adapt a Mustang interior harness to the under hood harness or are you trying to adapt an aftermarket harness to the Mustang gauges? Did the 4.6 come from the same Mustang? Is the under hood harness aftermarket?

If you don't have the interior harness that plugs into your cluster, I would get one from the local junk yard. Wiring most modern gauges clusters without them would be almost impossible. Get a Haynes manual for the vehicle the gauges came from and follow the schematic. It will show all of your harness plugs and wire colors going to them, determining what will be needed is just a matter of following each wire backwards to the source and deciding if you want to keep it. It will always be easier with matched harness's (under hood and interior) from the same vehicle.

I'm in awe every time I visit your gallery...

This probably won't help at all, but the autozone website has a lot of wiring diagrams that you can print out. It has helped me in the past diagnose problems anyway.

well the first one looks like the computer connector. For the rest I would put a post up on ffcobra.com. A guy named sergio over there used an 03 cobra donor and used the dash as well. There are a few guys over there using the 4.6. 2-3 vendors over there also do wire diets. Basically you send them your harness and they send it back labeled and allready to plug and play. Price was in the $300ish range if I remember correctly.

Keith -

Sorry to hear about the problems...but that's why I stick to carburators!

I admit that I thought you had it covered pretty well when you got yhe harness with the engine and the Mustang dash. In fact, I'll bet you are closer to the solution than you think. You already have some good advice from guys a lot smarter than me. Good luck, Buddy.

While my 5.0 swap is similiar nothing would be the same. But I did get a great book with my Ford Motorsports engine harness that makes it easy. I wonder if they would have anything similiar for your swap, might be worth a try. If what you have pictured is the entire car harness I would think you will be getting rid of alot of it.

you have my sympathy for what it's worth, but on the bright side I know a mechanic near here who is using a twin-turbo'd 4-cam in a 56 and he seems to know all there is to know about them, I WILL ask him

keith You might try www.currentperformance.com I bought a stand alone kit for mine. cost $94.00 made to let any engine run in any car or truck, or even on an engine stand. Then wire your gauges from there. It has all the wiring diagrams showing how to wire up the gauges that you can download from the site. .......RUSTY
