Cold start
Ok lets see if anyone can help on this? I got a 98.5 f-350 lariat with the 7.3 power stroke with 175,00 on it. Their all highway miles. All the glow plug system is working(new ones, checked wiring in heads,and made sure current is at the glow plugs). Relay is working fine to. It won't fire up unless it is plugged in overnight when it's cold.And when it does crank it surges ,then when you take off it falls on it's face ( have the pedal to the floor) and it verly moves. Ok when it is plugged in it runs fine. and takes off as it should. Help.

I would think that at 175,000 miles that engine has got to be getting a little tired. If the rings and valves aren't sealing the way they should any more it's going to be tough getting enough compression heating to light off the fuel in the cylinder when the weather gets cold. That's why it starts better when plugged in and warm.
