Why is it that the 2000 Ex. hitch receiver is rated at 1000 lbs tongue weight (with WD hitch) and all other years of Ex. have 1250 lbs for tongue weight?
Is the hitch receiver actually different or is it that the Ex. "on the whole" is rated less than other years?
Reason I'm asking is that, we are looking at purchasing on new Travel Trailer with tongue weight when loaded likely being around 1150 lbs.
Once WD hitch is applied, I'm guessing (hoping) that at least 150-200 lbs of tongue weight will be transferred back onto the trailer axles.
Any input on what you would do if you were me would be great.
I read a post from a guy who worked at the Ky truck plant at the time the new hitch was put on the Ex. He stated the new bolt torques for the hitch were much higher.
