I hooked up my remote starter today and it didn't work. I connected the leads at the solenoid...one on the positive cable side, the other on the heavy black cable going to the starter, right?
NO-----What are you trying to do??? What year truck. Is the solenoid mounted on the fender? If you want to use a separate remote starter button --one side of the button goes to the small stud on the solenoid. If there are two small studs, one should be marked (S) for starter.
The other side of your button goes to ground. That will make the starter turn, but will not make the engine run unless the key is on.
BE CAREFULL -YOU ARE DEALING WITH A LOT OF POWER AND UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING--YOU COULD CAUSE DAMAGE OR INJURY.
Oops, sorry, it's an 83, solenoid mounted on fender. Has the heavy red positive cable, the heavy black cable to the starter, a small unused stud, and a small red stud (being used). So, one alligator to the small red stud, the other alligator to a ground, right?
I'm just doing some choke work, thought I'd start it from under the hood. Thanks.
