fuel tanks
i have a 93' f-250 with dual tanks. i'm in the process of fixing the shackle mount when i discovered the rear tank leaking.i have gas on both straps.i dont have the money for a new tank so how can you fix it for alittle while.my front tank doesnt leak but the gauge doesnt work.i dont know how to fix the gauge.any ideas?

Check wiring and switch. I put new sending unit in last truck and gauge didn't work. But parked before found problem . drain tank and get 2 part epoxy it will work for while but once they go they will leak right next to it. They sell sealer to dump in tank thats off and slosh around . But its just as cheap to get new tank. If you live in Central PA message me you can have the new one off old truck half price tank with new sending unit and pump installed Good luck

permatex makes a sealer that is an aerosol can that does a pretty good job for the time being its called (grabs permatex catalog) Permatex Form-a-seal leak repair, it should work, that description is "forms a durable rubber barrier that stops leaks in minutes without part removal" dunno if it works but its worth a shot

If it's a metal tank (i just bought a 250 so I am pretty unfamiliar w/it) Get a two part epoxy from the hardware store for metal. If it's plastic get a two part epoxy for plastic. There is a difference. One will not stick to the other. If you are going to do this you have to clean the tank really well. Sand it with a little emery cloth and stick the glop of epoxy on it. Did this once to a Dodge Shadow, still on the same tank today!!!
