1998 ford ranger 3.0, 6 splash model, 2 wheel drive.dio message,p104,dpfe sew circuit high volt, differential pressure feedack exhust gas recirucation sensor circuit high votage. what sensor has gone bad or worst. in advance thinks for your time.
The DPFE has gone bad. Somebody with a 3.0L will hopefully chime in soon to give you the exact directions on replacement (I have a non-EGR 4.0L), but the DPFE is a fairly commonly failing part.
The light will come on again. The DPFE is failing intermittently at this time, so it's only a matter of time before it acts up again.
It's a very simple repair.. it's a rectangular unit bolted on the side of the intake... two bolts, one electrical plug, and two hoses going from the exhaust to the sensor. I also highly recommend you replace these hoses as well, as they can deteriorate on the inside and push pieces of hose material up into the sensor, effectively destroying it as well.
You may notice the new sensor is made out of plastic (and the old one has a metal housing)... this is normal as it is a redesigned part, and will install with no modifications.
