This weekend I was at a Citco fueling station somewhere in the middle of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<ST1Maryland </ST1</st1:State>when a Chebbie Duramax pulled up next to me to fuel up also, he looks at my truck (which I just spend all morning washing and waxing) and asks if I had a lift on my truck. I told him I didn’t but wanted to get one eventually. He couldnt believe it was stock height. I dont know why, its only a 250. I think he was jealous of the PSD and just wanted to spark up a conversation… <O</O

my 95 350 4x4 .stock truck, i had hard times going through inspection.they bring out this book(lift laws nj) check ground clearance body to ground tires 16" rims I tell them its all stock.I guess its the axle blocks.
Buddy of mine has a new 2500 Duramax and had the torsion bars raised to the max and 265's put on. Side by side, mine is still a touch higher. He was "bragging" that his truck is almost the same height as mine. I silenced him with a "but I didn't have to do anything to mine." I could never understand why the new stock chevy 1/2 and 3/4 tons sat so low in the front. Thats a big turn off to me, I like a level or near level truck. Damn I like looking down on them chevies.
I've heard a lot of complaints about how dumb Ford mamagement is on this site but this thread shows that they aren't so dumb after all. Just by making a relatively useless change to their trucks they have been able to sell millions of them. There is a lot to be said for a lower center of gravity. After spending thousands of hours off road, I know which trucks I prefer; 150s or 250s without any alterations to their suspensions. The more beefed up the suspension the quicker you get worn out and the slower you go. The higher they are the more likely they'll end up on their side or roof. And as for those fancy winches on the front end; make sure you have one on the rear end too. When I've driven off into a mud hole; I go backwards to hard ground instead of farther into the pit.
sometimes, taller isn't better. imagine that you have to load a bedful of cinder blocks by hand. which would you want to load. in a ford that sits higher, or something else that is easier to be loaded. the height doesn't have an effect on the weight capacity.
