HPOP oring questions

I've been thinking about a preemptive replacement of my HPOP orings, have a few questions, and I can't get the search to work.

The ford kit contains 3 orings and some loctite, this kit is just for replacing the orings on the pump(2 lines and the end plug), right?

I assume there are also orings for the boss fitting at the head, do these ever leak or is it just the ones at the pump? Seems like if you were going to replace them, You might as well replace all 5 if there are orings at the head, shouldn't you?

I've looked at the quick disconnect fittings, but I'm not sure I understand how they function. Does anyone have any pictures of how to disconnect them?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Clux, I don't have any pictures of how to disconnect them. But you will see on the HPOP line going to the fittings a black ring that couples around the fittings. There's a special tool you're supposed to use to push the black ring back so you can pull the lines off but I just used two small flat screw drivers (One on each end putting equal pressure) and the HPOP line was able to come off that way for me. It was tough in the tight spot, but I was able to get the lines out.

Also be aware that if you do buy the two fittings, they already come with o-rings Here are a few shots of my new (and old) fittings.

New fittings, that's the part # there if you need it.

Old one on the left, new one on right.

Here's a shot of the two fittings with the lines, you can clearly see the black ring I'm talking about on the left fitting.

Good luck

So how much did the fittings cost, David? Just the oring kit is around $40 at my local dealer.

The fittings were only $25 or so. I don't remember how much my dealer quoted me for the o-ring kit, but it was more expensive than the two fittings.

David,

So get out the calipers and give us the I.D. and thickness of the o-rings. Eyeballing it won't do.

We're trying to build a database of o-rings at the help network.

Well, I guess it's obvious which parts Ford makes the most money on.

Anybody know anything about the o-ring at the other end of the HPO line? is it the same size as the pump end?
