Unhappy Theft alarm

i lost the key to my 1997 ford expedition. i went to a ford dealer and they made me a copy for my expedition. i used the key to start the ford and it started then shut down because the theft light is blanking. why and how can this be repaired with out it costing alot of money?

its doing that cause the key they gave you dont have the chip in it they same thing happened when i got a new key for my wife's car. I would crank it up then it would die and i called one of my friends who is a dealership mechanic and he told me that if it didnt have a chip in it that it would do that. so i took the key up there and they said it didnt have a chip in it
