Rear door problems
My rear door has quit raising on its own. I can pull it up manually, but it used to raise automatically. I am sure it is the hydraulic openers. Are these difficult to replace?

Not hard
I just fix the one on my 00 Navigator. I took a chance and replaced just the one on the right to see if it was the one that was the weakest. Got the replacement from Autozone for ~$30. Works like new. There are 2 clips that I popped off with a screwdriver before removing the old one and the the clips on the new one I just moved to the end of the tube. Once the rod was in place the clips are easy to slide back. Need to have another person to help hold the hatch open while you replace the strut.

Support Lift
OK maybe I shouldn't have used the word strut. The part is made by Mighty-Lift and is called a support lift for the hatch/rear gate. My part # was C95733 but can be easily researched on autozone.com or any other online part store. Hope this helps.
