I have an 94 f250 and I just put a new master cylinder and booster on it. The brakes go all the way to floor. I bled the brakes twice and its not getting better. The shoes and pads are new and adlusted. Could the proportioning valve be bad.
It could be there is still air in the lines...after i replaced my master it took forever to get a hard pedal back...but it did. You say you bled them twice? Do you mean the brakes were fine, then you lost pedal and had to rebleed?
If you have not done so, bleed the brakes at the master cylinder before going to the individual wheels. There are no bleeders on the master, but you can gravity bleed it by filling it, leaving the cap off, and loosening the lines until it starts to drip a bit of fluid around the fittings. Let it drip for 15 minutes- half hour, topping off the master if necessary. Tighten up the fittings, then gravity bleed the wheels for a while, too.
If the new master is good, and you don't have any leaks in the system, you shouldn't have trouble getting a good firm pedal.
By the way, be sure to check the adjustment on the rear brakes. Loosely adjusted rear brakes will give you a low pedal. It will be firm when it does take up, but it will be low.
I've been fighting the same problem on my 94 f250. I replaced calipers, pads shoes turned the drums and replaced the mastercyl. I also flushed the old flluid. I bled the system 3 times...the truck stops great and the abs unit will work properly but I can, with moderate pressure make the pedal go to the floor. I just purchased a motive power bleeder so we will see if that helps.
I fought this problem on my 89 f250 also.....
As you can see this is a common problem with these beasts.
I've done many brake jobs in my 62 years but these two fords beat the cake.
I will tell you what I find......
