Paint

I have a few blemishes on the truck that I just bought it's a 1990 F-150 and I wanted to find some touchup paont to cover a few places. Where is the best place to get paint? I have the Two tone paint with the white and Blue.

For the best match go to a napa or other auto parts that deal in auto body / paint . Also you might get some mixed up at a body shop. Places like autozone etc,Can order touch up paint but it dosn't always match well. I get my truck touched up every year . I drove rust buckets for 6 years and I want to keep my near rust free 94 F150 as nice as long as possible. Good luck

The problem with touch up paint is that it will match the paint on your truck perfectly- as it was when it was brand new.

With 17 years of being in the sun, the paint on your truck is most likely faded a bit, so it won't match perfectly.

That said, a slightly mismatched area is still better than a scratch or nick. If you're just working on rock chips, get the small bottle with the brush in the cap- use the brush to dab paint in the blemish until the touchup paint is built up above the level of the existing paint. Let it dry thoroughly, then carefully sand it down to level with 2000 grit sandpaper. Be sure to not touch the original paint any more than absolutely necessary. then hit the sanded area with some fine rubbing compound to take out most of the sanding scratches. Follow this with a fine polishing with something along the lines of Novus #2- when you're done, the repair will be almost invisible.

For larger areas, if you use the spray cans, try to feather out the new paint into the old, lightly sand with the 2000 grit, then rub and polish as before. It won't be invisible, but it will be close, and a heck of a lot better than what you have now.

Thumbs up

I think i will try that because some of the places are just little nicks here and there that i wont care much about, but some of the spots like on the roof are rather larger rust spots, so blending those in will be important. Thanks
