Valve covers question...
I have been told that the early 80's Crown Vic's used the same valve covers as 93-95 Cobra Mustangs? Now is this true, because I can get a set of Vic valve covers dirt cheap. Main thing is that I will have a set of free valve covers that will clear 1.7 roller rockers without grinding or removing the baffles....

Early 80's Crown Vic's used the standard stamped steel valve covers. They look about thae same as all of the earlier non-EFI covers. They just han extra mounting tabls on the top of them for EGR solenoids and such. 93-95 Cobra Mustang Valve covers are aluminum.

The 93-95 Cobra covers were not aluminum. They were a double layer stamped steel cover, painted black. If the Vic covers are free, try them. All that's needed anyway is to dimple the filler hole baffle to clear the rockers. I set my 83-83 GT covers on my 331 the other day with soem baffles I made, taped to the covers. After bolting them down, I pushed the baffle down onto the rocker and it dropped a 1/2" or so before contacting the rocker.
