I was browsing about looking at trucks and daydreaming when I thought to myself, "hey, I'd love an early model reg cab superduty powerstroke...but I really don't need 4wd and I'd just like to have the 4wd stance". Thought about all those white 2wd XL F-250s I see in fine shape for great prices, and a stripped down truck with vinyl is what I like. So I looked in my copies of Four Wheeler, browsed the internet, and have mostly just seen the Fabtech 6" that allows for around 35" tires I believe.
From what I've seen, there ain't no kit I can just up and buy to make a 2wd sit like a 4wd. A 4" and 33s would be nice, but I think the one or two 4" lifts I did see were only for gas applications. Anywho...I could deal with the 6" lift if I were to pick up a superduty. I assume swapping the rear diff to 4.30 would be the wise thing to do with 35s....at least I think that'd put her back fairly right as far as the RPMs and powerband would be stock.
My question is....I know that in this case even though the truck would be lacking the few hundred pounds up front....would the lift, bigger meats, and swapped ratio equal out to much of a hit on the ol 7.3's thirst for fuel...and just how much would one expect to lose on the mileage?
I know i dont have a superduty or a psd (v-10), but i do have two wheel drive and i did use the fabtech lift kit. Once i put the 4 inch and the 33's on i didnt loose any mileage. I get 460- 480 miles per fill up. Its still the same. Not now though because of the winter blend fuel.
