I chose the boot kit, because i have heard that Brian at BTS has found out that the transmission runs 10-20* hotter with one, and he prefers to not use it.
I have to say spray in liner. If I dont my truck is going to rust away. I am going to do the bed and bottom quarter of the truck as soon as I figure out what color would go the best with my red truck.
Line X/ Rhino/ whoever if you haul ANYTHING in the bed you know it slides around. Not with the spray in liner, it stays put. When my truck was new I had a double shot of rhino put in( its 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick) and after 7 years I only have a couple of scars in it.
brian told me not to run a second trans filter as well..it lowers the line pressure and makes it run a little hotter..i like the bed liner idea..i want to do mine in side and under the bed..i also want to do under the cab from the frame rail out to the rockers...we get alot of road salt here
I say bedliner. The previous owner has a Rhino liner sprayed in, and I'm glad I have it. No worries about rust, scratches, or damage to the bed. I don't know how long he had it in there, but in the 3 years I've had the truck it's holding up fine.
Oh, and guess who else is not running an external tranny filter anymore (that'd be me). Brian suggested I remove it as well, but he's also modifying the pump to flow a lot more fluid. So, the filter might be a restriction with his higher flow pump, but would probably be ok with a stock pump. But, since the trans his his product and he'll be repairing it if it were to ever fail, I followed his advice and removed mine.
I haven't given up on the idea of an external trans filter though. I'm thinking some type of bypass filter would work, just as long as all the fluid doesn't have to go through it. Tap into a tranny line for a feed and find a good place to return it. Just an idea for now though.
