also while checking batt conections make shour that the conectors are shinny no pailness use a knife to get the build up off.
to check cilanoid just use a screwdriver and cross over it.
1. unplug coil pack, (disable ignition system)
2. connect voltmeter between positive battery and starter B+ circuit.
3. turn key to start and check voltage if voltage reads 0.5 or more there is high resistance in the starter cable or ground cable and repair as needed. If this is ok proceed to next.
4. connect voltmeter to positive and starter M cicuit
5. turn the key to start an note voltage.
6. if voltage is 0.5 volts or higher, replace the starter.
It has a footnote that states most automotive part stores now have starter bench testers and that this is usually the cheapest (FREE) and most definitive way to test the starter.
Good luck and hope that helps.
the solenoid is a switch there for it can be crossed over there is a big wire that comes from the batt to solenoid then a big wire that goes from the solenoid to starter.
you simply ta a screwdriver and touch both poles on the solinoid
use metal end to do this you hold the plastic end
note dont touch the metal part of the screwdriver or you will look like this
if you dont know what im talking about best just call ashop and forget about it.
