I have an 03 F350 with the 6.0. I have 4 inches of lift with 35's. The truck runs great and is very strong. My question is if I was to take the resonator and muffler off and weld in a straight pipe would the truck perform better and possibly get a little more fuel economy??? Also, how much could I expect to spend on the section of piping and where can I get it from CHEAP????
I think it depends on where you live. The exhaust place down the road from me (not a national chain, a local shop) did the muffler delete for me for only $60. I had just went in to buy the pipe and for that price It wasn't worth the trouble. I have gotten pipe for my last truck and it was only like $15 for a 3 foot piece of pipe. Where do you live? U think as long as you go to a local shop they will take care of you.
Depends on what dia. and make (aluminized or stainless). 3" dia. stainless was about $12/ft. back when I bought it. Obviously, aluminized pipes would be less expensive, but not last nearly as long.

I have a stock muffler delete pipe that I order from Pure Diesel Power (one of the sponsers on the left margin). It was around $65 for the pipe. I am going to install it today. They also had Cat delete pipes but I opted not to get that yet. The dealership told me to leave the kitty in or I could have warranty issues....I believe the cat delete is one that you can remove the cat and bolt in the aftermarket and then switch back and forth if needed. I just didn't want to do that.
I have piped mine all the way back. for the muffler I welded in a piece of straight pipe for the kitty I used the AFE delete pipe. There was maybe an increase in power and or fuel milage. Nothing to jump up and down about. The sound however is what I was going for. It is quiet while at idle for the most part. The only time it gets loud is at full throttle.
