I was going through some of my Dad's (may he rest in peace) stuff that was packed away in my basement and I came across some photos of a huge explosion, I mean massive, and there was a small write-up on each photo indicating the place of origin, it was Ripple Rock and dated 1958. Now when I was a kid he did mention he worked on a huge scale project during that time, something to the fact about one of the largest non-nuclear explosions ever. I did a little research on the "Ripple Rock" project and found out there was this really troubled shipping lane north of Vancouver called Seymour Narrows. To make a long story short there were many casualties and sunken ships due to a huge mountain like rock underneath the Seymour Narrows causing shipping transport companies huge amounts of money. They tunneled from the main land and into the rock itself and in carefully placed shafts, dumped over a million pounds of tnt and let 'er rip. Can you say ....KA-BOOM!
I even found an old VHS tape on this event and saw my Dad in his teens working on this project. I couldn't believe he never told me more about this, but he was always a humble man.
